A public digital currency issued by the ECB, complementary to cash. Not a cryptocurrency, not a stablecoin. It's euro in every respect, in electronic form.
PongoFin is already ready
for the Digital Euro.
The European Central Bank has launched the final preparatory phase of the Digital Euro project. The official app will be developed by Almaviva and Fabrick, the Italian excellence selected by the ECB. PongoFin is built on open standards that will accommodate the Digital Euro without rewrites.
What the Digital Euro really is (in 60 seconds)
Instant payments, also offline, with cash-like privacy for small amounts. Holding limit expected: €3,000 per citizen, with automatic waterfall to the linked bank account.
2027 pilot, 2029 launch expected. Distribution through regulated PSPs (banks, payment institutions), aligned with PSD2/PSD3.

What changes, in practice, for those who manage accounts
The Digital Euro enables new payment patterns. PongoFin reconciles them with your traditional accounts, without you having to rebuild flows manually.
Conditional payments
Automatic release of funds only when conditions are met (e.g. verified delivery). PongoFin reconciles conditional payments with linked invoices and contracts.
Native digital receipts
Payments with native electronic receipts stored in wallets. PongoFin imports receipts and automatically links them to the matching bank transaction.
Instant settlement
Immediate crediting of received amounts, including cross-border. PongoFin updates cash forecasts in real time based on actual instant settlements.
Waterfall reconciliation
Amounts exceeding the holding limit (€3,000) flow into the linked bank account. PongoFin treats both flows as a single reconciled view, automatically.
Why PongoFin will be ready from day 1
Our architecture is consistent with the ECB project principles. We don't promise magic: we explain why no rewrites will be needed.
Open architecture
Edge runtime on Cloudflare, documented REST APIs, ready to integrate official ECB SDKs when published.
PSD2 / PSD3 aligned
Already structured on European Open Banking standards. Digital Euro distribution will go through the same regulated PSPs.
Multi-instrument reconciliation
PongoFin reconciles wires, instant transfers, cards, cash. The digital euro will be one more channel, not a separate system.
EU-only data
Storage and processing on Cloudflare with EU jurisdiction binding. Consistent with the European technological sovereignty required by the ECB.
Encryption by-design
AES-256, HKDF-SHA256, immutable audit log. The same "privacy by design" approach as the Digital Euro project.
Italian-first
PongoSID and PongoREI already integrated for Italian Financial Registry and Address Registry. Italy is a strategic hub of the ECB project (15% of Innovation Platform partners).

Start now with PongoFin. When the Digital Euro arrives, you'll already be operational.
From today to 2029 we have 3 years. Building analysis and reconciliation habits now means arriving at launch with a workspace already configured, historical data already structured, processes already in place. And when the Digital Euro is available, we'll add it as one more channel.
PongoFin is not affiliated with or sponsored by the European Central Bank or the Digital Euro project. Information here is based on public sources (ECB, Eurogroup, Fabrick whitepaper October 2025) and may be subject to updates as the project evolves.
